A samosa is a baked or fried pastry with a savoury filling. It takes different forms, including triangular, cone, or half-moon shapes, depending on the region. Originating between 800 – 1000 AD in Central Asia and the Middle East, samosas today are served across the continents. Typically, though not always, the samosa is initially baked, which intensifies the flavours of its filling and reduces the need for lots of oil.
